Our Mission

Through the acquisition of StarWalk Kids Media by Isabella Products, Fable Learning has been created to serve a community of educators committed to supporting the expansion of digital learning and communication through engaging, intuitive, creative technology products and services. Our Fable Learning Team creates and collects high quality, engaging, validated educational content and delivers it via platforms that are tailored to children’s individual needs, both online and offline. Today, our offering consists primarily of enhanced eBooks of the highest quality, mentor texts from authors whom educators know and trust. In the coming months, we will be supplementing our premier eBook collection with the launch of our Fable Writer collaborative software, an expansion of our Spanish Bilingual collection, and carefully selected games, apps and projects to enhance children’s learning and engagement.

The Fable Learning collection is tightly curated for excellence and focused on delivering proven mentor texts from authors whose work educators know and trust. Familiar and respected names in the Fable Learning catalog include Seymour Simon, David A. Adler, Bryan Collier, Doug Cushman, Diane deGroat, Johanna Hurwitz, Kathleen Krull, Newbery Honor author Kathryn Lasky, Caldecott-winner Emily Arnold McCully, Pat Mora, Doreen Rappaport, Hudson Talbott, New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award winner Laura Vaccaro Seeger, Bernard Waber, Jane Yolen, and more. The collection is evenly divided between fiction and nonfiction, and covers Pre-K through 8th Grade.

Each eBook in the collection has been expertly adapted and professionally narrated in preparation for digital streaming via the best-in-class, proprietary Fable Reader™, and all titles are accompanied by a “Teaching Links” document developed by nationally known literacy expert and Fable Learning Education Advisory Board member Linda Hoyt.  The Teaching Links match each eBook to relevant Common Core Standards and provide suggestions for CCSS-appropriate teaching activities and further inquiry.

Other unique, defining features of the Fable Learning eBook platform:

AFFORDABILITY Institutional subscriptions start at $895 for a single K-8 school or library: this means that the entire collection at a typical school of 500 students costs about $1.80 per student per year! Multi-site and district discounts are available to bring per-student pricing down even lower. There are no platform fees or other hidden costs, and the collection will continue to grow throughout each school year at no additional cost to the subscriber.

MULTI-USER A whole class can read the same book at the same time without check-in/check-out delays or waiting lists.

DEVICE NEUTRAL Our proprietary, browser-based Fable Reader works on virtually any device, including desktop/laptop computers, interactive whiteboards and tablets. Tablet users must first download the free Fable Reader app from iTunes, the Google Play Store, or the Amazon App store.

STREAMING ACCESS ANYWHERE The user can read an eBook anywhere there is Internet connectivity (e.g. reading at home).

ADVANCED SEARCH FEATURES Educators, families and students may search for books by author, title, keyword, subject, Lexile® level, Guided Reading (Alphabetic) level, Accelerated Reader® level and Common Core State Standard (CCSS).

A Note from Fable Learning about Reading Levels: We all know that kids learn a lot by looking at visual images and even more during read a-louds and independent reading of books that they select themselves. Real learning is not dependent on reading level. While Fable Learning does not endorse limiting reader access to good books, we are making available search tools that enable our users to select from three sources of leveling information (Lexile, Guided Reading and Accelerated Reader) to support differentiated instruction.
